Email Security #001

Who/What is Impacted:

A small number of freight brokers received a fraudulent email from one of our clients’ email addresses. The email asked recipients to change Revolution Capital’s banking information.

How it Happened:

We believe one of our clients’ email accounts was hacked and fraudulent emails were sent to addresses in their address book.

What We’re Doing:

We’re reaching out to all clients/debtors notifying them of this fraudulent activity and advising them that we have not changed our banking details.

We’ve created a system that enables us to quickly communicate any future “Incident Alerts” to all concerned parties.

We will be adding educational resources to our website to ensure transparency and effective dissemination of information.

What You Can Do:

Double check the email address that sends you banking information. Ensure that it comes from “revinc.com”.

Look for typos in the email address. It may come from “reviinc” or “rewinc” or something like that. Always be vigilant with banking information.

Always be suspicious when an email is poorly worded and contains grammatical errors.

It is possible for an email address to be faked. You should ALWAYS call to verify banking information.

If you’re not 100% sure of the authenticity of the email, you should always call us to verify before making any changes. Always use the contact information on our website www.revinc.com. Never use the contact information on a suspicious correspondence.
